I received an Associate of Arts Degree in Psychology at St. Philip's College and then earned a Master's degree in Occupational Therapy from the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio.
As a pediatric occupational therapist in schools, I offer a holistic (student-centered) perspective on collaboration and integration of evidence-based support regarding therapeutic strategies and functional treatment, to assist with student participation and access within the academic environment. My duty is to collaborate with educational staff, caregivers, and medical specialists, in order to support the integration of equipment and strategies into students’ academic routines, in the area where they practice the skill the most, at a time when the teacher can see how the student is expanding their skill and therapists can observe the practical application of strategies. This helps determine whether intervention is appropriate/useful, and creates real-time teacher/therapist opportunities to address problems as they arise so that students can achieve generalization of skills. School-based OT is not intended to replace clinic-based OT services or therapy needed for medical reasons.

The OT Department is housed at Ft. Sam Houston in the Military School District's Cooperative (COOP) building. My primary campus is Lackland Air Force Base, however, I service Randolph Field and Ft. Sam Houston as needed.
