On Friday, September 7, 2018, students at Fort Sam Houston ISD schools will be released early so that staff can participate in professional development. Fort Sam Houston Elementary School will release at 12:05 p.m. and Robert G. Cole Middle and High School will release at 12:35 p.m. Bus schedules will be adjusted for early dismissal. Sack lunches will be available for purchase.
The 2018 – 2019 District Calendar contains early dismissal days to target the specific needs of each campus, provide on-going training for all new employees, and engage all staff in learning and research as we build capacity to instill innovations that benefit our students. Early dismissal allows teachers to collaborate between grade levels, content areas, and campuses in ways not possible during the school day.

We have some amazing teens, individuals and families who volunteer in our JBSA community. Now's your chance to spotlight their contributions and recognize their selfless service by nominating them for the Volunteer of the Year Award or Volunteer Excellence Award. The elementary school is hosting monthly parent workshops presented by the Family Life Educators from the JBSA Resiliency Center. The Fort Sam Houston Independent School District is soliciting for nominees to be considered for 2 openings on the Board of Trustees. The positions must be filled by either a military member or civilian living on or employed by Joint Base San Antonio-Fort Sam Houston.To qualify for the board, a volunteer must be:
• 18 years of age or older
• U.S. citizen
• Qualified voter
Trustees will take an official oath of office and serve without compensation. Interested applicants must submit a resume no later than 5:00 p.m., February 28, 2018 to the School Liaison Officer at 2484 Stanley Road, Building 2263 Room 107B, Basement.
