TEA Services for Students with Autism Grant

We are thrilled to announce that the Military School Districts’ Cooperative has been awarded the TEA Innovative Services for Students with Autism Grant for the 2024-2026 school years! We are proud to be one of only 10 districts selected to receive this funding. Ft. Sam Houston is the fiscal agent for this grant.

Technology, and specifically gaming technology, is often a high-interest area for many of our students with autism. While many of our students possess strong technology skills, some may have areas where they could use additional support to build independence. In addition, students may face challenges with social and peer interaction skills, which can impact their success in engaging with technology-based activities. This grant will help us address both areas of need.
-
Our project will focus on several key goals:
- Building on students’ strengths and enhancing their technology and social skills, including those of students with other special education eligibilities.
- Equipping staff with the skills and strategies to integrate technology more effectively into daily instruction.
- Expanding students' access to technology and STEM activities during the school day.
- Enhancing students’ social skills through collaborative, technology-based activities.
- Promoting participation in recreational activities using technology.
- Improving students' understanding of online safety and responsible technology use.
-
- Students in grade K – 12+ with an eligibility of autism in all 3 military school districts.
- Other special education students and general education students may also participate in grant activities.
- Parents/families of students in all 3 districts.
